தமிழ்நாட்டின் தற்போதைய நீர்வளத்துறை அமைச்சர், திமுகவின் பொதுச் செயலாளர், காட்பாடி தொகுதியின் எம்.எல்.ஏ, சீனியர் அரசியல்வாதி – இது ‘துரைமுருகனின்’ தற்போதைய பக்கங்கள்.
இவரது அரசியல் வரலாற்றை புரட்டி பார்த்தால், அது 1954-ம் ஆண்டிலேயே தொடங்கிவிட்டது. இந்த ஆண்டும் திராவிட முன்னேற்ற கழகத்தின் ஆரம்ப காலமும் கிட்டத்தட்ட ஒன்று.
தமிழ்நாட்டில் திமுக வளர வளர, இவரது அரசியல் பயணமும் தொடர்ந்து வளர்ந்தது என்றே சொல்லலாம். அந்தளவிற்கு இவர் திமுகவின் மிக முக்கியமான முகம்.

“எம்.ஜி.ஆர் எனக்கு மிகவும் வேண்டியவர். என்னை ஏழு ஆண்டுகள் படிக்க வைத்தவர். பாம்பேவில் ஃபிளைட்டைத் தவறவிட்டதால், சார்ட்டர்ட் ஃபிளைட் பிடித்து என் திருமணத்திற்கு வந்தார். என் திருமணப் பரிசாக 25 பவுன் நகை கொடுத்தார். இப்படி எனக்கு எல்லாம் செய்தவர் தான் எம்.ஜி.ஆர்.
ஆனால், ‘இடி, மின்னல், மழை’ என்கிற பிராசார பயணத்தில், அவரை கடுமையாக சாடி பேசினேன்.
சபையில் அவரை எதிர்த்து பேசும்போது, அவர் கையைக் காட்டுவார். ஆனால், நான் முகத்தை திருப்பி கொள்வேன்.

எம்.ஜி.ஆரின் கேள்விக்கு, “தேர்தலுக்கு 13 நாள்களுக்கு முன்ன தான் எங்க அப்பா இறந்தாரு. தேர்தல் அன்னைக்கு தான் காரியம் வெச்சுருந்தோம். ஆனால், இடையில நீங்க ரெண்டு தடவை என் தொகுதிக்கு வந்து எனக்கு ஓட்டு போட வேண்டாம்னு சொன்னீங்களே… அதுகப்புறம் நான் எப்படி உங்ககிட்ட பேசறது” என்று பதிலளித்தேன்.

‘தவறமாட்டியா?’ என்கிற கேள்விக்கு, ‘தவறமாட்டேன்’ என்று சொன்னேன்.
‘இந்த ஜன்னல் வழியா ஏறி கீழே குதி பாக்கலாம்’ என்று கூறினார். உடனே, ஜன்னல் பக்கம் போனதும், செக்யூரிட்டியைக் கூப்பிட்டு, ‘குதிச்சாலும் குதிச்சுடுவான்’ என்று தடுத்தார்.
