Gokul Krishnan is from Balakrishna Nagar, Thiruvottiyur, Chennai. He has been serving as the West Thiruvottiyur area secretary in the AIADMK student wing. In this constituency, AIADMK has fielded Kuppan as their candidate. He was campaigning in the KCP Road area. At that time, Gokul Krishnan and some others got into the campaign vehicle to garland the candidate Kuppan. However, Kuppan's son and councilor Karthik, along with some others, stopped them.
