Kandan is from Puduppalayam village near Arani in the Tiruvannamalai district. His wife is Poongodi. They have two sons, Sathishkumar and Vijaykumar. The elder son, Sathishkumar, completed his degree and worked as a construction foreman. The younger son, Vijaykumar, also completed his B.A. in Economics from Velur Government College in 2018, prepared for government jobs, and had been taking competitive exams for seven years. However, he did not get a government job. Due to this mental distress, Vijaykumar committed suicide by hanging himself at home yesterday. The reason for the suicide of the graduate youth Vijaykumar was the denial of reservation for the Vanniyar community.
Vijayakumar wrote in his diary over 20 pages demanding reservation for the Vanniyars before taking his own life. Vijayakumar was found hanging, and a letter was also found in his hand. In it, he had sketched and written that "Vanniyars need reservation." Kannamangalam police recovered the body of the youth Vijayakumar and sent it to Vellore Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. They have also registered a case and are conducting an investigation. In this situation, "It is a great shock that a young man has committed suicide without receiving social justice."
"I am suffering, unable to console his family who are drowning in pain," said PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss in a statement.
