An investigation is underway into the theft of gold that was embedded on the bronze plates of the door guardians' sculptures and the sanctum doors at the Sabarimala Ayyappa Swami Temple. In this case, six people, including Unnikrishnan Pottri, former officials of the Sabarimala temple, and Padmakumar, former leader of the Thiruvithangoor Devasambhordu from the CPM party, have been arrested. Meanwhile, during the recently concluded local body election campaign in Kerala, a song mocking the left democratic front government led by the CPM was released, protesting against the gold theft. The song, based on the famous Ayyappa Swami song "Pallikkattu Sabarimalaikku Kallum Mullum Kaalukku Methai," was sung to its tune. The song lyrics indicated that the people who sent Unnikrishnan Potri to Sabarimala and looted the gold plates were comrades. That song was also used by the Congress alliance parties, and the BJP's use of it during the Kerala local body election campaign was heard throughout the state. Meanwhile, during the protest held yesterday in the Parliament premises led by Congress MP Dean Kuriakose, demanding Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's resignation over the gold theft incident in Sabarimala, the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee MPs attracted attention by singing the song "Swarnam Kattavan Yaarappa Sakhaklane Ayyappa." இந்த நிலையில் அந்த பாடலை தடைச் செய்ய வேண்டும் என சபரிமலை திருவாபரண பாதை கமிட்டி பொதுச்செயலாளர் பிரசாந்த் குழிக்கால என்பவர் கேரள போலீஸ் டி.ஜி.பி-க்கு புகார் அளித்துள்ளார். அவரது மனுவில் கூறுகையில், “பக்தி பாடலை திரித்து தவறாக பயன்படுத்துகிறார்கள். அரசியல் லாபத்துக்காக ஐயப்ப சுவாமியின் பெயரை பயன்படுத்துவது பக்தர்களை வேதனைக்குள்ளாக்கியுள்ளது. இந்த பாடல் அய்யப்ப சுவாமியை நிந்தனை செய்யும் விதமாகவும், அவமதிக்கும் விதமாகவும் அமைந்துள்ளது. எனவே அந்த பாடலை உடனடியாக திரும்பப்பெற வேண்டும்” என கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.
