A Person: I run a business at a shop along Thyagaraya Nagar Road. One day, after finishing lunch, I resumed my business. At that time, the fellow shopkeepers nearby were leaving noisily. When I asked where they were going, they said a celebrity had come to a nearby school for a photo shoot. Hearing this, I also felt eager to see him. When I got the chance to see in person the person I admired from watching movies at a young age, I was very excited. The business wouldn’t be very busy at noon! I thought I could close the shop for a little while and go. People who knew me as his fan on the shop street asked me, "Aren’t you going?" But since I was working in the shop, I didn’t feel like leaving it to go there. That day, a sense of duty prevented me from going there. I started doing business with the hope that I would get a chance to meet him next time.
A Leader: After a few years, the shop owner expanded his business by setting up a large store and employed me there. The store was located on the same street where I had previously done business. The roadside shop had now transformed into a large building store. Ten people worked there along with me. Since I was an experienced businessman in that trade, they would come to me with any business-related doubts. At that time, a leader I greatly respected came to inaugurate the skywalk in Thyagaraya Nagar. People gathered on the street to see him that day. My friends who knew me as his supporter asked, "Aren’t you coming?" It was disheartening that the leader, who had been walking among the people on Rangnathan Street, a crowded place in Thyagaraya Nagar, could not be seen. Today's leaders act as protectors of people from evil thoughts rather than fighting against evil enemies. They raise awareness among the people and guide them. They find joy in solving daily problems. Some people try to create a wrong image of such leaders who wish to do good for the people. In the times of kings, there was a tradition of awarding poets who praised themselves and their country. Some consider it wrong to take the nation's wealth just for the sole reason of praising oneself. But the reason why the kings of those days gave regularly to the great poets was,
They have understood in the songs they sing that loving their country and striving for its development is important. Therefore, the rulers of that time acted with the understanding that poets, through their songs, aimed to lead the country on the path of progress. The people, who are the rulers in today's democracy, must also understand and act accordingly. They should praise and welcome leaders who are willing to dedicate their lives for the country. They must understand the politics these leaders advocate. Commanders have the power to transform the warriors who follow them into commanders themselves. Hence, commanders do not like to meet their followers as ordinary people.
Supporters and fans expect their leader to be a leader who meets with other leaders. By creating people with such awareness and responsibility, there would be no need for power to govern the country. A whip would be needed only to teach a lesson to the cruel. – Subi Dasthertal

நான் தியாகராய நகர் சாலையோர கடையில் வியாபாரம் செய்து வருகிறேன். ஒரு நாள் மதிய உணவை முடித்து விட்டு மீண்டும் வியாபாரம் செய்ய ஆரம்பித்தேன். அப்போது அங்கு வியாபாரம் செய்யும் சக கடைக்காரர்கள் ஆரவாரத்துடன் எங்கேயோ புறப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.
அவர்கள் எங்கே செல்கிறார்கள் என்று விசாரித்த போது ஒரு பிரபலம் அருகில் இருக்கும் பள்ளியில் படப்பிடிப்பிற்காக வந்திருப்பதாக கூறினர். இதை கேட்டதும் எனக்கும் அவரைப் பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்கிற ஆர்வம் உண்டானது. சிறு வயதில் திரைப்படங்களில் பார்த்து ரசித்த நபரை நேரில் பார்க்க வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்த போது ஆவல் அதிகமானது.
மதிய வேளையில் வியாபாரம் பெரிதாக இருக்காது.! சிறிது நேரம் கடையை மூடிவிட்டு சென்று விடலாம் என்ற எண்ணம் தோன்றியது.
கடைவீதியில் அவருடைய ரசிகராக என்னை அறிந்தவர்கள் என்னிடம், நீ போகவில்லையா..? என்று கேள்வி எழுப்பினர். ஆனால் கடையில் வேலை பார்க்கும் எனக்கு கடையை விட்டு விட்டு அங்கே செல்வதற்கு மனம் இசையவில்லை. அன்று கடமை உணர்ச்சி என்னை அங்கு செல்ல விடாமல் தடுத்தது. அடுத்த முறை அவரை சந்திக்க வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்கும் என்று மனதை தேற்றிக் கொண்டு வியாபாரம் செய்யத் தொடங்கினேன்.
A Leader :-
சில வருடங்களுக்கு பிறகு கடையின் முதலாளி தன் வியாபாரத்தைப் பெருக்க பெரிய கடை அமைத்து அங்கு என்னை வேலையில் அமர்த்தினார். நான் முன்பு வியாபாரம் செய்த அதே சாலையில் அந்த கடை அமைந்திருந்தது.
சாலையோர கடை தற்போது பெரிய கட்டட கடையாக மாறியது. அங்கு என்னுடன் சேர்த்து பத்து பேர் வேலை செய்தனர். அவர்களுக்கு முன்பே அந்த வியாபாரத்தில் தேர்ந்த வியாபாரி என்பதால் வியாபாரம் சார்ந்த சந்தேகங்களுக்கு என்னிடமே கேட்டு வியாபாரம் செய்வார்கள்.
அப்போது நான் பெரிதும் மதிக்கும் தலைவர் ஒருவர் தியாகராய நகரில் அமைந்துள்ள ஆகாய நடைபாதையை திறந்து வைக்க வந்திருந்தார். அன்றும் அவரைக் காண மக்கள் சாலையில் திரண்டனர். என்னை அவருடைய ஆதரவாளராக அறிந்த எனது நண்பர்கள் நீ வரவில்லையா..? என்று கேள்வி எழுப்பினர்.
தியாகராய நகரில் அதிக மக்கள் கூடும் இடமான ரங்கநாதன் தெருவில் மக்களுடன் மக்களாக நடந்து வந்த தலைவரை பார்க்க முடியவில்லையே என்று வருத்தமாக இருந்தது. நான் கடையை விட்டு சென்றுவிட்டால் சக தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு தவறான முன்னுதாரணம் ஆகிவிடும் என்ற பொறுப்புணர்வு அன்றைக்கு அங்கு செல்ல விடாமல் என்னைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்தியது.
A General:-
திரைப்படங்களில், ஒரு நாட்டின் அரசர் எதிரி நாட்டு அரசரை சந்திக்கும் காட்சிகளை காட்டியிருப்பார்கள். அந்த சமயத்தில் தன் எதிரி நாட்டு அரசரை வீழ்த்தி விட்டால் எளிதில் வெற்றி பெற்றிருக்கலாம் என்கிற யோசனை சிலருக்கு தோன்றும். ஆனால் வரலாற்றில் இவ்வாறு எந்த அரசரும் செய்திருக்க மாட்டார்கள். ஏனென்றால் அரசரை இழந்த நாட்டின் அதிகாரம் அனைத்தும் அந்நாட்டின் தளபதிக்கு சென்று விடும். இது எதிரிகளுக்கு மிகவும் ஆபத்தாக முடிந்து விடும். வெவ்வேறு இடங்களில் போரிட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கும் அந்நாட்டின் தளபதிகள் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து போர் தொடுப்பார்கள்.
இழந்த அரசர் மீது அதிருப்தியில் இருந்த அண்டை நாட்டு சிற்றரசர்கள் தளபதியோடு சேர்ந்து போரிடுவார்கள். ஒருமுனைப் போட்டி பன்முனை ஆவதை யாரும் விரும்ப மாட்டார்கள். தற்போது, இவ்வகையான போர்கள் நடப்பதில்லை.
இன்றைய போர்கள் மன ரீதியாக நன்மைக்கும் தீமைக்கும் இடையே நடக்கிறது. தர்மத்திற்கும் அதர்மத்திற்கும் இடையே நடக்கிறது. இன்றைய தளபதிகள் தீய எதிரிகளோடு சண்டையிடுவதை விடுத்து தீய சிந்தனைகளில் இருந்து மக்களை பாதுகாக்கும் தளபதிகளாக திகழ்கிறார்கள். மக்களுக்கு விழிப்புணர்வு அளித்து வழிநடத்துகிறார்கள்.
தினசரி பிரச்சனைகளுக்கு தீர்வு காண்பதில் மகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறார்கள். இவ்வாறு மக்களுக்கு நல்லது செய்ய நினைக்கும் தலைவர்களுக்கு, சிலர் தவறான பிம்பத்தை ஏற்படுத்த நினைக்கின்றனர்.
அரசர்கள் காலத்தில் தன்னையும் தன் நாட்டையும் புகழ்ந்து பாடும் புலவர்களுக்கு பரிசுகள் தரும் பழக்கம் இருந்தது. தன்னை புகழ்ந்த ஒரே காரணத்திற்காக நாட்டின் செல்வங்களை அள்ளிக் கொடுப்பதை தவறென்று சிலர் கருதுகின்றனர். ஆனால் அன்றைய அரசர்கள் புலவர் பெருமக்களுக்கு வாரி வாரி கொடுத்ததற்கான காரணம் என்னவெனில், தன் நாட்டை நேசித்து தன் நாட்டின் வளர்ச்சிக்காக பாடுபடுவதை அவர்கள் பாடும் பாட்டில் உணர்ந்திருக்கிறார்கள்.
எனவே கவிஞர்கள் பாட்டுபாடி நாட்டை முன்னேற்றப் பாதைக்கு அழைத்துச் செல்லும் எண்ணம் கொண்டவர்கள் என்பதை உணர்ந்து அன்றைய அரசர்கள் செயல்பட்டார்கள்.
இன்றைய ஜனநாயகத்தின் அரசர்களான மக்களும் இவற்றை உணர்ந்து செயல்பட வேண்டும். நாட்டிற்காக தங்கள் வாழ்வை அர்ப்பணிக்கும் எண்ணம் கொண்ட தலைவர்களை போற்றி வரவேற்க வேண்டும். அவர்கள் சொல்லும் அரசியலை புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
தளபதிகள் தன்னை பின் தொடரும் வீரர்களை தளபதிகளாக மாற்றும் வல்லமை கொண்டவர்கள். ஆக தளபதிகளை பின் தொடர்பவர்கள் சாதாரண மனிதராக தங்களை சந்திப்பதை தளபதிகள் விரும்ப மாட்டார்கள்.
தளபதியை சந்திக்கும் தளபதிகளாகவே தன் தொண்டர்களும் ரசிகர்களும் இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று எதிர்பார்ப்பார்கள். இவ்வாறு விழிப்புணர்வும் பொறுப்புணர்வும் கொண்ட மக்களை உருவாக்குவதால் நாட்டை நிர்வாகம் செய்ய அதிகாரம் தேவைப்பட்டிருக்காது. கொடியவர்களுக்கு பாடம் புகட்டவே சாட்டை தேவைப்பட்டிருக்கும்.
