The Mullai Periyar Dam is located on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. Construction of this dam began in 1886 and was completed on 10.10.1895. A special mixing machine was manufactured in England specifically for the construction of the Mullai Periyar Dam. It was then transported by sea route to Thoothukudi, from where it was brought by train to Ammaiyanayakkanur near Dindigul. Due to the lack of a proper path beyond that point, a trolley was attached to the mixing machine, and elephants and bulls were used to transport it over the 3000-foot-high mountains of Theni, Kambam, and Koodaloor to the current location of the dam. The Mullai Periyar Dam was entirely constructed using this mixing machine. This machine, which is over 130 years old, was placed in front of the Penny Quick house. The Mullai Periyar Dam is an emotionally significant matter for the people of Theni district. The mixing machine used to build that dam was also regarded as a treasure. For many years, social activists have been requesting to bring the mixing machine in front of the Mullai Periyar dam's Penny Quick house down and place it in a museum. Meanwhile, information has emerged that the ancient mixing machine was auctioned off last year as unusable, causing shock. When asked about this by officials at the Mullai Periyar dam, they said, "All the old items in the dam that are unusable have been categorized and auctioned off last year." One of them is this mixing machine. Currently, this machine is not here. They say it has been taken away. When asked who it was auctioned to, they said, "I will check the details and tell you," and ended the conversation.
