$100 Billion Target; Make in India; New Trade Routes – Putin Visit Highlights
Russian President Putin, who last visited India in 2021 before the Russia-Ukraine war began in 2022, arrived in India yesterday for a two-day visit after four years. Following his visit, the 23rd Russia-India Summit was held in Delhi today. After this summit, Putin and Prime Minister Modi met with the press together. Speaking at that time, Russian President Putin said, "Both sides (Russia and India) have signed an attractive package of agreements between governments and companies. Most of these aim to expand economic cooperation. Last year, bilateral trade reached 64 billion US dollars, which is 12 percent more than the previous period. Both sides have set a target to increase it to 100 billion US dollars. To achieve that goal by 2030, we have aligned our approach in the Russia-India economic cooperation plan. Both countries extensively use their national currencies. 96 percent of transactions are conducted in rupees and rubles."
