The Congress party, which had hoped to strengthen its presence in Tamil Nadu based on the Bihar election results, is now forced into the difficult position of having to accept the seats offered by the DMK without further negotiation. In the Bihar elections, Congress initially clashed with the RJD over demanding more seats. In the end, even though 61 constituencies were finalized, Congress ended up competing amicably (!) with the RJD in 7 constituencies. Ultimately, Congress secured only about 6 seats. Not just in Bihar, but since 1996, whenever the Congress party has contested more seats in Tamil Nadu, it has faced significant defeats. பிஹார் தேர்தல் முடிவுகளை வைத்து தமிழகத்தில் தங்களின் பேரவலிமையைக் கூட்டிக் கொள்ளலாம் என எதிர்பார்த்திருந்த காங்கிரஸ் கட்சி, இப்போது திமுக தரும் இடங்களை மறு பேச்சுப் பேசாமல் வாங்கிக்கொள்ள வேண்டிய இக்கட்டான நிலைக்கு தள்ளப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
பிஹார் தேர்தலில் தங்களுக்கு அதிக இடங்களைக் கேட்டு ஆர்ஜேடி-யுடன் ஆரம்பத்திலிருந்தே மல்லுக்கு நின்றது காங்கிரஸ். கடைசியில், 61 தொகுதிகள் இறுதி செய்யப்பட்டாலும், 7 தொகுதிகளில் ஆர்ஜேடி-யுடனேயே நட்புடன்(!) மோதியது காங்கிரஸ். கடைசியில், காங்கிரஸுக்கு கைவசமானது என்னவோ 6 தொகுதிகள் தான். பிஹாரில் மட்டுமல்ல… தமிழகத்திலும் 1996 முதல் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சி அதிக இடங்களில் போட்டியிட்ட போதெல்லாம் அபாரமான தோல்விகளையே சத்தித்திருக்கிறது.
