India qualified for the final of the FIH Nations Women’s Hockey Tournament. It secured a resounding victory by defeating Chile 6-0 in the semifinal.

The Nations Hockey Tournament, featuring eight teams, is being held in Auckland, New Zealand, under the auspices of the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The Indian team is competing in this tournament as preparation for the World Cup and the Asian Games.

India, which topped Group A with three wins, advanced to the semifinals. In the semifinal held on Saturday, India faced Chile. From the very beginning, the Indian women dominated. Chile also struggled at times to gain possession of the ball.

India got a penalty corner opportunity in the 6th minute of the match. Navneet Kaur converted it without error. In the 13th minute, using a cross pass sent by captain Salima Tete, Navneet Kaur scored her second goal.

In the 14th and 18th minutes, India’s drag-flicker Deepika scored brilliantly to give them a 4-0 lead.

Chile had no answer to India’s attacking play in the second half either. Neha converted another penalty corner in the 32nd minute.

In the final quarter, India’s goalkeeper Savita stood like a wall and stopped the Chilean players from trying to score.
