Rajya Sabha MP and Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan said on Friday (June 19) that it is commendable that a separate resolution was passed in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly against the Mekedatu dam.
In the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session, Chief Minister Vijay this morning moved his first separate resolution against the attempt to build a dam across the Cauvery . Since all parties expressed support for it, the resolution was passed unanimously.
Regarding this, Kamal Haasan posted on his X page:
It is commendable that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, brother Vijay, brought a special resolution in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly against the Karnataka government, which is acting unilaterally to build the Mekedatu dam across the Cauvery River without respecting the final verdict given by the Cauvery Tribunal and the judgment delivered by the Supreme Court in 2018, and passed it with the support of all Assembly members.
Kamal Haasan has noted that, in the Mekedatu issue, which affects Tamil Nadu’s water rights and the livelihood of Tamil Nadu farmers, he wholeheartedly congratulates all the members of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly who set aside political differences, stood together as one, and spoke with a united voice.

மேக்கேதாட்டு அணைக்கு எதிராக தமிழக சட்டப்பேரவையில் தனித் தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டது பாராட்டுக்குரியது என்று மாநிலங்களவை எம்.பி.யும் மக்கள் நீதி மய்யத்தின் தலைவருமான கமல்ஹாசன், வெள்ளிக்கிழமை (ஜூன் 19) தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
