“The Israeli army will not withdraw from the areas recently captured through military operations in Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip,” the country’s Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated firmly.
With a ceasefire being urged on all fronts, including Lebanon, and a peace agreement having been reached between Iran and the United States, Israel’s hardline announcement has once again created tension in the region.
“If Iran attempts to attack us in retaliation for Israel’s strikes in Lebanon, Israel will launch a very severe counterattack against that country,” Israel Katz has also warned.
Over the past 2.5 years, Israel has brought about 1,000 square kilometers of territory in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza under its control. Israel has announced that it will extend this control indefinitely.
On the other hand, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said that Lebanon is an inseparable part of the ceasefire agreement with the United States.
He also said that the draft agreement emphasizes three times the need to end the war on all fronts and regarding Lebanon.
