Tamil Maanila Congress leader G.K. Vasan has announced that the party is withdrawing from the National Democratic Alliance.
The executive committee meeting of the Tamil Maanila Congress party was held on Sunday in Chennai’s Egmore.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, G.K. Vasan said, "The Tamil Maanila Congress party is withdrawing from the National Democratic Alliance at the Centre and from the AIADMK alliance in the state.
Even though 12 years have passed since the Tamil Maanila Congress was started, our objective has still not been achieved. We have not been able to win in the legislative assembly and parliamentary elections.
Our alliance also has not been able to achieve the expected success. Alliances are necessary during election times. However, administrators feel that the movement’s growth is declining in alliance politics.
They want the party to function independently. Until the local body elections come, our party should function on its own and strengthen its grassroots base again.
From now on, the alliance will be only during election time. There is currently no conflict with the BJP or the AIADMK. There is no resentment with alliance parties either; we are stepping away from the alliance as a friendly force,'' he said.

தமிழ் மாநில காங்கிரஸ் தொடங்கி 12 ஆண்டுகள் ஆகியும் எங்களுடைய நோக்கம் இன்னும் நிறைவேறவில்லை. சட்டமன்ற மற்றும் நாடாளுமன்றத் தேர்தல்களில் வெற்றி பெற முடியவில்லை.
எங்களுடைய கூட்டணியும் எதிர்பார்த்த வெற்றியைப் பெற முடியவில்லை. தேர்தல் நேரங்களில் கூட்டணி அவசியம். ஆனால், கூட்டணி அரசியலில் இயக்கத்தின் வளர்ச்சி குறைவதாக நிர்வாகிகள் கருதுகிறார்கள்.
தனித்தன்மையோடு கட்சி செயல்பட வேண்டும் என விரும்புகிறார்கள். உள்ளாட்சித் தேர்தல் வரும் வரை எங்கள் கட்சி தனித்தன்மையோடு செயல்பட்டு மீண்டும் அடித்தளத்தைப் பலப்படுத்த வேண்டும்.
இனி தேர்தல் நேரத்தில் மட்டுமே கூட்டணி. பாஜக மற்றும் அதிமுகவுடன் எந்தச் சண்டையும் தற்போது கிடையாது. கூட்டணிக் கட்சிகளுடன் எந்த மனக்குமுறலும் இல்லை, கூட்டணியில் இருந்து நட்பு சக்தியாகவே விலகுகிறோம்” என்று தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார்.
