If those who have worked as higher education guidance teachers in government schools for three years wish to step down, the School Education Department has instructed that qualified other teachers may be selected in their place.
To ensure higher education guidance and admissions for students studying in Tamil Nadu government schools from classes 9 to 12, the School Education Department has been implementing the “Higher Education Guidance Scheme.” Under this scheme, class teachers are appointed as higher education guides in every government high school and higher secondary school.
Those teachers inform students about college education, vocational courses, and the entrance examinations for them. In addition, measures are being taken to identify students who are lagging behind and those who need special attention, and to ensure that they continue higher education.
In this context, Model Schools Member Secretary R. Sudhan has stated the following in a circular sent to all District Chief Educational Officers:
Under the Higher Education Guidance Scheme, headmasters were instructed from the year 2023 to appoint higher education guidance teachers in government schools. They were also asked to register the names of those teachers on the EMIS portal.
Only by ensuring that awareness and information related to higher education fully reach all students can their continuation in higher education be guaranteed. To achieve this goal, the guidance teachers already in schools were converted into coordinators. In addition, class teachers from classes 9 to Plus 2 were also appointed as higher education guidance teachers.
In the current academic year (2026-2027), if any of the Higher Education Guidance Coordinators wish to transfer from the school where they are working, retire, or step down from their responsibilities, another qualified teacher should be appointed as the new coordinator in their place. Accordingly, at the ratio of one Higher Education Guidance Coordinator for every 250 students, the headmasters of the concerned schools should select and appoint them by June 30. It further states that this should be updated continuously on the EMIS portal.

நிகழ் கல்வியாண்டில் (2026-2027) உயா்கல்வி வழிகாட்டி ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளா்களில் எவரேனும் பணிபுரிந்த பள்ளியிலிருந்து மாறுதல் பெற விரும்பினாலோ, ஓய்வு பெற்றாலோ, பொறுப்பிலிருந்து விலக விரும்பினாலோ அவருக்கு பதிலாக தகுதியுள்ள மற்றொரு ஆசிரியரை புதிய ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளராக நியமிக்க வேண்டும். அதன்படி 250 மாணவா்களுக்கு ஓா் உயா்கல்வி வழிகாட்டி ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளா் என்ற விகிதத்தில் சாா்ந்த பள்ளிகளின் தலைமை ஆசிரியா்கள் தோ்வு செய்து ஜூன் 30-ஆம் தேதிக்குள் நியமிக்க வேண்டும். தொடா்ந்து அதை எமிஸ் தளத்தில் புதுப்பிக்க வேண்டும் என அதில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.
