A paid darshan system is in place at the Tiruchendur Subramaniya Swamy Temple. Arrangements have been made for devotees who obtain the Rs. 100 ticket to have quick darshan.
Complaints arose that temple employees had misappropriated Rs. 25 lakh and 24 thousand in the distribution of these Rs. 100 tickets.
Following this, an inquiry into the complaint found that a temporary woman employee named Menaka had been involved in the irregularity, and she was suspended from service.
In addition, the temple administration has issued notices to temple staff Balamurugan and Uchimakali, asking them to explain, for allegedly being negligent and not checking the computer tickets properly.
In this situation, Balamurugan and Uchimakali filed a petition in the Madurai High Court seeking anticipatory bail for themselves.
This petition came up for hearing before Judge Danapal. At that time, the judge asked, "There has been irregularity to the tune of Rs. 25 lakh. Why did the senior officials not properly monitor this? How many devotees visit the Tiruchendur Murugan temple? How much revenue is generated from them? Isn’t it the duty of the officials to examine whether this revenue is being properly collected?"
At the end of the hearing, the judge ordered the concerned officials to file a counter-affidavit regarding what happened in this irregularity case and what the petitioners’ role is in it, and adjourned the hearing to the 8th.

மேலும் கணினி டிக்கெட்டுகளைச் சரி பார்க்காமலும் அலட்சியமாக இருந்ததாக கோவில் பணியாளர்கள் பாலமுருகன், உச்சிமாகாளி ஆகியோர் விளக்கம் அளிக்கும்படி கோவில் நிர்வாகம் நோட்டீஸ் அனுப்பியுள்ளது.
இந்த நிலையில் பாலமுருகன், உச்சிமாகாளி ஆகியோர் தங்களுக்கு முன்ஜாமீன் கேட்டு மதுரை ஐகோர்ட்டில் மனு தாக்கல் செய்தனர்.
இந்த மனு நீதிபதி தனபால் முன்பு விசாரணைக்கு வந்தது. அப்போது நீதிபதி, ”ரூ.25 லட்சம் வரை முறைகேடு நடந்து இருக்கிறது. இதனை உயர் அதிகாரிகள் முறையாகக் கண்காணிக்காதது ஏன்? திருச்செந்தூர் முருகன் கோவிலுக்கு எத்தனை பக்தர்கள் வருகின்றனர். அவர்களால் எவ்வளவு வருமானம் வருகிறது. இந்த வருமானம் முறையாக வசூலிக்கப்படுகிறதா என ஆய்வு செய்வது அதிகாரிகளின் பணி தானே?” எனக் கேள்விகளை எழுப்பினார்.
விசாரணை முடிவில், இந்த முறைகேடு விவகாரத்தில் நடந்தது என்ன?, இதில் மனுதாரர்களின் பங்கு என்ன? என்பன குறித்து சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அதிகாரிகள் பதில் மனு தாக்கல் செய்ய வேண்டும் என நீதிபதி உத்தரவிட்டு, விசாரணையை வருகிற 8-ந்தேதிக்கு ஒத்திவைத்தார்.
