In the Ponnery Panchayat at the foothills of the Elagiri Mountains, under the Jolarpettai Assembly constituency in Tirupattur district, the 'Amma' park was established during the past AIADMK government. The local people used the park for walking exercises and recreation. However, after the DMK came to power, the Amma park was neglected and left without maintenance. It is said that despite bringing this to the attention of K. Devaraji, who has been the MLA of Jolarpettai for the past five years, he did not take any action. As a result, the park has fallen into disrepair. Garbage is piled up everywhere, and the park has turned into a shelter for anti-social elements.
Avalampoonga, which has turned into an anti-social hub, is in a state of turmoil due to people sitting around drinking alcohol and throwing empty bottles there. Parents are afraid to bring their children to play. Residents around the park are also fearful because of the activities of drug gangs. Therefore, the local people have requested that "Amma Park be renovated and made available for public use again." When asked about this, Zolarpet P.T.O. Hari assured, "The park will be renovated quickly and monitored by the police."
