In the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections, the DMK party faced defeat, while the T.V.K emerged as the single party winning the most seats. However, T.V.K did not secure enough seats to form a majority government. Out of the total 234 constituencies, a party needs to win 118 seats independently to establish a majority government. T.V.K Vijay won only 108 seats as a single party. Since the party did not secure the required majority seats, T.V.K sought support from the Congress. Congress also supported T.V.K by allotting 5 seats. For the remaining 6 seats needed, T.V.K had made requests to the Liberation Tigers and the Communist parties.
In this context, the Communist Party of India has extended its support to Thaveg Vijay. In a statement released by the Communist Party of India regarding this, it said, "Under the instructions of our party secretary Mr. M. Veerappandian, I, Th. Ramachandran, the leader of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Communist Party of India, on behalf of the two legislative members of our party, hereby express our unconditional support to the Tamil Nadu Victory Alliance and its leader and legislative party leader Mr. C. ஆனாலும் தனிப்பெரும்பான்மை ஆட்சி அமைப்பதற்கான எண்ணிக்கை த.வெ.கவிற்குக் கிடைக்கவில்லை. மொத்தமுள்ள 234 தொகுதிகளில் 118 தொகுதிகளை தனிக் கட்சியாக வென்றால் மட்டுமே தனிப்பெரும்பான்மை ஆட்சி அமைக்க முடியும்.

காங்கிரஸும் தவெகவுக்கு ஆதரவு அளித்து 5 இடங்களை வழங்கிவிட்டது. மீதம் தேவைப்படும் 6 இடங்களுக்காக விடுதலை சிறுத்தைகள் மற்றும் கம்யூனிஸ்ட் கட்சிகளிடம் தவெக கோரிக்கை வைத்திருந்தது. இந்நிலையில் இந்திய கம்யூனிஸ்ட் கட்சி தவெக விஜய்க்கு ஆதரவு அளித்திருக்கிறது.
