Pinarayi Vijayan has been serving as the Chief Minister of Kerala since 2016. In the 2016 elections, the CPM alliance secured a majority and took power in Kerala. Pinarayi Vijayan assumed office as Chief Minister. Similarly, in the 2021 legislative assembly elections, the CPM won 99 out of the total 140 constituencies in Kerala, forming the Pinarayi Vijayan 2.0 government. In this context, the legislative assembly election was held in Kerala on April 9th. The CPM leaders had been stating that they would once again take power and form the Pinarayi Vijayan 3.0 government.
At the same time, exit poll predictions released on the 29th indicated that Congress would come to power. Today, as the votes were counted and the election results were announced, criticisms arose that the Chief Minister had edited his bio out of fear of defeat. Pinarayi Vijayan, who only mentioned his party position on his Facebook page, was commented on by Pineesh Kodiyeri, son of former CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, on social media. Pineesh Kodiyeri said, "As soon as the election was announced, on March 16th itself, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan changed his bio to state that he is a Politburo member. He made this change once the election procedure rules came into effect."
He said, "It is incorrect information to say that out of fear of the vote count results, he has now changed the bio from Chief Minister to only mentioning the party position."

எக்ஸிட் போல் கணிப்புகள் பொய்த்துபோகும் என சி.பி.எம் தலைவர்கள் கூறி வருகின்றனர். தமிழ்நாடு, கேரளம் உள்ளிட்ட 5 மாநில தேர்தல்களில் பதிவான வாக்குகள் இன்று எண்ணப்பட உள்ள நிலையில் தனது ஃபேஸ்புக் உள்ளிட்ட சமூக ஊடக பக்கங்களில் பயோவில் ‘கேரள முதலமைச்சர்’ என்பதை நீக்கிவிட்டு ‘பொலிட் பீரோ உறுப்பினர் கம்யூனிஸ்ட் பார்ட்டி ஆஃப் இந்தியா (மார்க்சிஸ்ட்)’ என மாற்றியுள்ளார் பினராயி விஜயன்.
நேற்று (மே 3) இந்த மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டதாக தகவல்கள் வெளியாயின. இன்று வாக்குகள் எண்ணப்பட்டு தேர்தல் முடிவுகள் வெளியாக உள்ள நிலையில் தோல்வி ஏற்பட்டுவிடும் என்ற பயத்தால் முதல்வர் தனது பயோவில் திருத்தம் செய்துள்ளதாக விமர்சனங்கள் எழுந்தன.
இதுகுறித்து சமூக வலைத்தளங்களில் கருத்து தெரிவித்துள்ள சி.பி.எம் முன்னாள் மாநில செயலாளர் கொடியேரி பாலகிருஷ்ணனின் மகன் பினீஷ் கொடியேரி, “தேர்தல் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டதும் மார்ச் 16-ம் தேதியே முதல்வர் பினராயி விஜயன் தனது பயோவில் பொலிட்பீரோ உறுப்பினர் என மாற்றம் செய்துவிட்டார். தேர்தல் நடைமுறை விதிகள் அமலானதும் இந்த மாற்றத்தை செய்துவிட்டார். வாக்கு எண்ணிக்கை முடிவுகளுக்கு பயந்து இப்போது முதலமைச்சர் என்ற பயோவை திருத்தி கட்சி பதவியை மட்டும் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளதாக கூறுவது தவறான தகவல்” என்றார்.
