தலைமை கூறியதாலேயே மகேஷ் தனது மேயர் பதவியையும், வார்டு கவுன்சிலர் பதவியையும் ராஜிநாமா செய்ததாக கூறப்படுகிறது. அப்படியானால் சட்டசபை தேர்தலில் போட்டியிடும் தஞ்சாவூர், திருப்பூர், ஓசூர் மேயர்கள் தங்கள் பதவியை ராஜிநாமா செய்யவில்லையே என்ற கேள்வியும் எழுந்துள்ளது.
இதுகுறித்து மகேஷ் தரப்பில் கூறுகையில், “சட்டசபை தேர்தலில் போட்டியிடும் மேயர்களை ராஜினாமா செய்யும்படி தலைமையில் இருந்து கூறியுள்ளனர். அதன் அடிப்படையிலேயே மேயர் பதவியை மகேஷ் ராஜினாமா செய்துள்ளார். தலைமை கூறிய உடனே மகேஷ் அதை செயல்படுத்தி உள்ளார். பிற மேயர்களும்ராஜினாமா செய்ய வாய்ப்பு உள்ளது” என்றனர்.
