Babanasam is one of the eight assembly constituencies in Thanjavur district. In the 2001 elections, DMK contested here directly. Since then, the DMK leadership has only given opportunities to alliance parties here. To put it simply, it has been 55 years since DMK won directly in this constituency. Although this time the constituency was favorable for DMK, because the alliance spoiled the chances, there is a feeling among the people of Babanasam that the opportunity will slip away. They say that the situation has arisen for AIADMK to easily capture a constituency that should have been won easily. We spoke to people familiar with the details about AIADMK and Shanmugaprabhu regarding this matter.
In the 2021 elections in the Papanasam constituency, Jawahirullah Udhaya Suriyan won while contesting under the DMK alliance symbol. This time, DMK leaders wanted the party to contest directly. Many, including Muthuschelvan, Ayyarasu, Kalaichelvan, Thamaraiselvan, and Pavai Hanifa, had submitted their preference letters. Surveys conducted within the constituency also emphasized that DMK should contest. In this context, the Indian Union Muslim League, which is part of the DMK alliance, was allotted the constituency. This caused a strong shock among DMK members. In the DMK alliance, Shajahan belongs to the Indian Union Muslim League, and in AIADMK, Ayyappan is known as Shanmuga Prabhu.
In Thavek, Asarudeen Uduman Ali has been fielded as the candidate from the Naam Tamilar Party. In this, Shanmuga Prabhu, who is contesting from AIADMK, is the son of the late former AIADMK minister Duraikannu. He has been preparing vitamins for the election. In the DMK alliance, Shajahan, two months ago, prayed at the family deity temple to get a seat and has hosted a large feast by cutting a goat. Shanmuga Prabhu got the seat as he expected. He is actively campaigning, promoting himself as the son of the soil. Shajahan, Asarudeen Uduman Ali, and Anees Bathima, who belong to other parties, are not from the Papanasam constituency.
Since they are from outside the area, Sanmuga Prabhu is like a sudden rain in the forest. Even now, he is confidently moving around as if victory is assured for him. He melts everyone's hearts by giving sweet boxes. In the upcoming assembly elections, Bapanasam is one of the constituencies favorable to DMK. In the interview conducted by Chief Minister Stalin with those who submitted nominations, the leader said in chorus, "Give seats to whoever you want, but we must directly enter the field ourselves; the people of the constituency also want this." After Tavek-Asarudeen Uduman Aliethan, the constituency went to the Indian Union Muslim League.
In 2021, the widespread accusation made by the people was that MLA Jawahirullah, who won, was from Vellore and therefore not from the constituency. Now, Hajakan, who belongs to the Aduthurai area, has entered the fray as the DMK alliance candidate. In the last MP election, Sudha from the Congress party in the alliance won in the Mayiladuthurai parliamentary constituency, which included the Papanasam constituency. Now Sudha does not even come within the constituency. Because of this, the people of Papanasam are dissatisfied. In the 2016 assembly elections, Lokanathan from the Congress party in the alliance contested and faced defeat. Durai Kannu, who had shifted to AIADMK, won. At that time, if DMK had contested, we would definitely have won.
Similarly, since the DMK is not contesting currently, the environment is set for the AIADMK to capture the constituency. The Naam Tamilar Party - Anees Bathima DMK leadership must immediately pay proper attention to this. They should reconsider and field someone from the DMK. Otherwise, the victory of the constituency will turn into a mirage. Everyone concerned about the welfare of the DMK agrees on this. தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள எட்டு சட்டமன்றத தொகுதிகளில் ஒன்று பாபநாசம். கடந்த 2001ம் ஆண்டு தேர்தலில் திமுக இங்கு நேரடியாக போட்டியிட்டது. அதன் பிறகு கூட்டணிக் கட்சிகளுக்குத்தான் திமுக தலைமை இங்கு வாய்ப்பு கொடுக்கிறது. சொல்லப்போனால் திமுக இந்த தொகுதியில் நேரடியாக வெற்றி பெற்று 55 ஆண்டுகள் ஆகிவிட்டது. இம்முறை திமுக-வுக்கு தொகுதி சாதகமாக இருந்தும் கூட்டணிக்கு தாரை வார்த்து விட்டதால், வாய்ப்பு கை நழுவி போகும் நிலை ஏற்படும் என பாபநாசம் உடன் பிறப்புகள் மனப்புழுக்கத்தில் உள்ளனர். எளிதாக வெல்ல வேண்டிய தொகுதியை அதிமுக கைப்பற்றும் சூழல் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் சொல்கிறார்கள்.
இது குறித்து விவரம் அறிந்தவர்கள் தரப்பில் பேசினோம். “பாபநாசம் தொகுதியில் கடந்த 2021 தேர்தலில் திமுக கூட்டணியில் போட்டியிட்ட ஜவாஹிருல்லா உதய சூரியன் சின்னத்தில் நின்று வெற்றி பெற்றார். இம்முறை திமுக நேரடியாகப் போட்டியிட வேண்டும் என்று திமுக நிர்வாகிகள் விரும்பினர். முத்துச்செல்வம், அய்யாராசு, கலைச்செல்வன், தாமரைச்செல்வன், பாவை ஹனீபா உள்ளிட்ட பலரும் விருப்ப மனு அளித்திருந்தனர். தொகுதிக்குள் எடுத்த சர்வேயிலும் திமுக போட்டியிட வேண்டும் என்பதை வலியுறுத்தினர்.
இந்தச் சூழலில் திமுக கூட்டணியில் உள்ள இந்திய யூனியன் முஸ்லீம் லீக் கட்சிக்கு தொகுதி ஒதுக்கப்பட்டது. இதனால் திமுக-வினர் கடும் அதிர்ச்சியடைந்தனர். திமுக கூட்டணியில் இந்திய யூனியன் முஸ்லீம் லீக் கட்சியைச் சேர்ந்த ஷாஜகான், அதிமுக-வில் அய்யப்பன் என்கிற சண்முக பிரபு, தவெக-வில் அசாருதீன் உதுமான் அலி, நாம் தமிழர் கட்சியில் அனீஸ் பாத்திமா வேட்பாளராக களமிறக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். இதில் அதிமுக-வில் போட்டியிடும் சண்முக பிரபு அதிமுக முன்னாள் அமைச்சர் மறைந்த துரைக்கண்ணு மகன். தேர்தலுக்காக வைட்டமின்களை தயாராக வைத்திருக்கிறாராம்.
இரண்டு மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பு தனக்கு சீட் கிடைக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக குலதெய்வ கோயிலில் வழிப்பட்டவர், கிடா வெட்டி பெரிய அளவில் விருந்து வைத்திருக்கிறார். சண்முக பிரபு நினைத்தது போல் அவருக்கு சீட் கிடைத்து விட்டது. மண்ணின் மைந்தன் என்பதை முன்னெடுத்து பிரசாரத்திலும் ஈடுபட்டு வருகிறார். மற்ற கட்சிகளைச் சேர்ந்த ஷாஜகான், அசாருதீன் உதுமான் அலி, அனீஸ் பாத்திமா ஆகியோர் பாபநாசம் தொகுதியை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் கிடையாது. வெளியூரைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் என்பதால் சண்முக பிரபு காட்டில் அடை மழை.
இப்போதே வெற்றி தனக்கு தான் என்பது போல் தோரணையாக வலம் வருகிறார். ஸ்வீட் பாக்ஸ் கொடுத்து எல்லோரையும் கரைக்கிறார். வரும் சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தலில் திமுக-வுக்கு சாதகமாக இருந்த தொகுதிகளில் பாபநாசமும் ஒன்று. விருப்ப மனு அளித்தவர்களிடம் முதல்வர் ஸ்டாலின் நடத்திய நேர்காணலில், தலைவரே யாருக்கு வேண்டுமானாலும் சீட் கொடுங்கள், ஆனால் நாம்தான் நேரடியாக களமிறங்க வேண்டும், தொகுதி மக்களும் இதை தான் விரும்புகின்றனர் என கோரஸாக கூறினர்.
இதன் பிறகும் தொகுதி இந்திய யூனியன் முஸ்லீம் கட்சிக்குச் சென்றது. 2021ல் வென்று எம்.எல்.ஏ-வான ஜவாஹிருல்லா வெளியூரைச் சேர்ந்தவர் என்பதால் அவர் தொகுதிக்குள் இல்லை என்பதே பரவலான குற்றச்சாட்டாக மக்கள் முன் வைத்தனர். இப்போது திமுக கூட்டணி வேட்பாளராக களமிறங்கியிருக்கும் ஹாஜகான் ஆடுதுறையைச் சேர்ந்தவர். கடந்த எம்.பி தேர்தலில் பாசநாசம் தொகுதி அடங்கிய மயிலாடுதுறை நாடாளுமன்றத் தொகுதியில் கூட்டணியில் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியைச் சேர்ந்த சுதா வெற்றி பெற்றார்.
இப்போது சுதா தொகுதிக்குள் வருவதே இல்லை. இதனால் பாபநாசம் மக்கள் அதிருப்தியில் உள்ளனர். 2016 சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தலில் கூட்டணியில் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியை சேர்ந்த லோகநாதன் போட்டியிட்டு தோல்வியை தழுவினார். அதிமுக-வில் மறைந்த துரைக்கண்ணு வெற்றி பெற்றார். அப்போது திமுக போட்டியிட்டிருந்தால் நிச்சயம் வெற்றி பெற்றிருப்போம். இதே போல் தற்போது திமுக போட்டியிடாததால் தொகுதியை அதிமுக கைப்பற்றுவதற்கான சூழல் அமைந்துள்ளது.
திமுக தலைமை உடனடியாக இதில் உரிய கவனம் செலுத்த வேண்டும். மறுபரிசீலனை செய்து திமுக-வைச் சேர்ந்த ஒருவரை களமிறக்க வேண்டும். இல்லை என்றால் தொகுதியின் வெற்றி கானல் நீராகி விடும். திமுக-வின் நலனில் அக்கறையுள்ள அனைவரும் ஒத்த கருத்துடன் இதை சொல்கிறோம். யாரையாவது வைத்து கள நிலவரத்தை தலைமை அறிய வேண்டும். அதன் பிறகு நல்ல முடிவை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்பதுதான் பாபநாசம் திமுக-வினரின் எண்ணமாக இருக்கிறது” என்றனர்.
