The Sathankulam father-son murder case came up for hearing today before Judge Muthukumar. On the 23rd, the judge had stated that all nine accused were guilty and had ordered the central and state governments to submit reports on their mental state, mentioning that the verdict details would be released on March 30. அதற்கு, ‘2 நாள்கள் அவகாசம் கொடுங்கள்’ – சிபிஐ தரப்பில் தெரிவிக்கபட்டது.
இதைக் கேட்ட நீதிபதி காட்டமான தொனியில், “கடந்த 23-ம் தேதி அறிக்கை தாக்கல் செய்யக் கூறியும், ஏன் அறிக்கை தாக்கல் செய்யபடவில்லை. 9 பேருக்கு தூக்குத் தண்டனையா ஆயுள் தண்டனையா என நான் முடிவெடுக்க வேண்டும்… அதற்காகவே அறிக்கை கேட்கிறேன்.
என்ன தண்டனை கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காகவே அறிக்கை கேட்கிறேன்” எனச் சொன்னதோடு, வழக்கு ஏப்ரல் 2-ஆம் தேதி ஒத்திவைத்தார்.
இதைத் தொடர்ந்து சாத்தன்குளம் கொலை வழக்கில் தொடர்புடைய ஒன்பது குற்றவாளிகளும் நீதிபதி முன் ஆஜரானார்கள். மாலை 4.30 மணிக்குள் அறிக்கையை தாக்கல் செய்யுமாறு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார் நீதிபதி.
