After the Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra split into two factions under the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar has been operating as a separate unit. In the Maharashtra Assembly elections held at the end of last year, the Nationalist Congress Party led by Sharad Pawar faced a heavy defeat. Recently, elections were held for vacant Legislative Council seats. In this election, only one member from the opposition side could be elected from Maharashtra. The Congress expressed its desire to contest for that seat. However, the opposition parties agreed that Sharad Pawar, who was part of the opposition alliance, would contest for this position.
Following this, Sharad Pawar was elected as a Member of Parliament. Sharad Pawar invited his coalition party leaders Uddhav Thackeray, Aditya Thackeray, and senior Congress leaders Nana Patole and Vijay to his home, hosted and honored them, and thanked them for electing him to the Parliament. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar has recovered from the hospital and returned home. This is the first time Sharad Pawar has called opposition leaders and spoken after the assembly elections. Uddhav Thackeray's term in the Legislative Council ends next May.
Nine members of the Maharashtra Legislative Council who are elected by the members of the Legislative Assembly are to be selected. Among them, only one can be chosen from the opposition parties. The selection of Uddhav Thackeray for that one seat was discussed at a meeting convened by Sharad Pawar. The state Congress leader Harshwardhan did not attend this meeting.

ஆனால் எதிர்க்கட்சிகளின் கூட்டணியில் இடம் பெற்று இருந்த சரத் பவார் இப்பதவிக்கு போட்டியிட எதிர்க்கட்சிகள் சம்மதித்தன. இதையடுத்து சரத் பவார் மாநிலங்களவை உறுப்பினராகத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டார்.
எனவே சரத் பவார் தனது கூட்டணிக் கட்சித் தலைவர்களான உத்தவ் தாக்கரே, ஆதித்ய தாக்கரே, காங்கிரஸ் மூத்த தலைவர்கள் நானா பட்டோலே, விஜய் ஆகியோரை தனது வீட்டிற்கு வரவழைத்து, அவர்களுக்கு விருந்து கொடுத்து கெளரவித்து, தன்னை மாநிலங்களவைக்குத் தேர்வு செய்ததற்கு நன்றி தெரிவித்துக் கொண்டார்.
அதோடு சரத் பவார் மருத்துவமனையில் இருந்து குணமடைந்து வீடு திரும்பி இருக்கிறார். சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தலுக்குப் பிறகு எதிர்க்கட்சித் தலைவர்களை அழைத்து சரத் பவார் பேசுவது இதுவே முதன்முறையாகும். வரும் மே மாதம் சட்டமேலவையில் உத்தவ் தாக்கரேயின் பதவிக்காலம் முடிகிறது. மகாராஷ்டிரா சட்டமேலவையில் காலியாகும் 9 உறுப்பினர்கள் சட்டமன்ற உறுப்பினர்கள் மூலம் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட இருக்கின்றனர். அவர்களில் எதிர்க்கட்சிகள் தரப்பில் ஒருவரை மட்டுமே தேர்வு செய்ய முடியும்.
அந்த ஓர் இடத்திற்கு உத்தவ் தாக்கரேயை தேர்வு செய்வது குறித்து சரத் பவார் கூட்டிய விருந்தில் ஆலோசிக்கப்பட்டது. இக்கூட்டத்தில் மாநில காங்கிரஸ் தலைவர் ஹர்ஷ்வர்தன் கலந்து கொள்ளவில்லை.
