இரண்டு மணி நேரத்துக்கும் மேலாக காங்கிரஸ் குழு விமான நிலையத்திலேயே காத்திருந்தது. திமுக தரப்பில் ஒரு நம்பரை சொல்ல அதற்கு டெல்லி தலைமையிடம் ஒப்புதல் வேண்டி காங்கிரஸ் குழு காத்திருந்ததாக தகவல். இந்த இழுபறி சில மணி நேரங்களுக்கு நீடித்து பரபரப்பை கூட்டியது.
நீண்ட காத்திருப்புக்கு பிறகு காங்கிரஸ் குழு அறிவாலயம் நோக்கி புறப்பட, இரவு 7:30 மணிக்கு முதல்வர் ஸ்டாலின், கனிமொழி, டி.ஆர்.பாலு போன்றோர் அறிவாலயம் வந்தனர். கிரிஷ் சோடங்கர், செல்வப்பெருந்தகை போன்றோரும் வர முதல்வர் முன்னிலையில் கூட்டணி ஒப்பந்தம் கையெழுத்தானது.
