The second part of the Kerala Story film, which is centered around love jihad, has been made as a sequel. The film titled 'The Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond' is directed by Kamakya Narayan Singh. Ulka Gupta, Aishwarya Ojha, and Aditi Pathak play key roles in this movie. With the teaser of the film released, it was reported that it contains scenes controversial on religious grounds, leading Sridev Namboothiri from Kannur to file a case against Kerala Story 2 in the Kerala High Court. On February 27 (yesterday), the Kerala High Court single bench imposed a ban on the release of Kerala Story 2, which was scheduled to be released.
Following that, the producers immediately filed an appeal in the High Court Division Bench. In the Kerala High Court appeal argument, it was stated that petitions to ban the film were filed 16 days after the teaser of the movie was released. Kerala Story Part 1 is a film that has won national awards and has been granted a certification by the CBFC. The film addresses certain social evils. This movie does not disrespect Kerala. It is a film against those who promote social evils. Overall, the film does not speak against any religion.
On the other hand, some members of it speak about what lies behind social harm. The Kerala Story 2 movie teaser footage did not promote social harmony. The Supreme Court and the Constitution guarantee freedom of expression. The producer argued that if the film is not released, they would face a major financial crisis. This petition was heard by the Supreme Court's division bench comprising Justices Sushruth Dharmadhikari and P.V. Balakrishnan. Subsequently, the bench stayed the single bench order that had banned the film's release and passed an order. Following this, permission has been granted to release The Kerala Story 2 movie.
