The Chennai Corporation's budget meeting is taking place today at Ripon Building. In this meeting, women councilors from DMK, Congress, BJP, and VCK attracted attention by wearing group sarees in the same style, transcending party differences. The interim budget for Tamil Nadu was submitted in the assembly yesterday, and today Mayor Priya is presenting the budget for the corporation. The budget meeting, which started at 11 a.m. today, saw 16 women councilors from DMK, BJP, Congress, and VCK happily posing together, all wearing group sarees in the same color.
Among them is BJP's councillor Uma Anand. There is also Congress councillor Sukanya Selvam, who is causing a stir in the alliance. When asked about this by the councillors, they said in unison, "The day the budget is presented is a special day. For this special day, we have come dressed in the same style of saree to show our unity. Even though we belong to different parties, we will work together for the welfare of the people." Some male councillors privately mocked them, saying, "What's new about this during election time?" Councillor leadership can be challenged if needed; we are always friends!

சென்னை மாநகராட்சியின் பட்ஜெட் கூட்டம் இன்று ரிப்பன் மாளிகையில் நடந்து வருகிறது. இந்தக் கூட்டத்தில் திமுக, காங்கிரஸ், பாஜக, விசிக-வை சேர்ந்த பெண் கவுன்சிலர்கள் கட்சி வேற்றுமைகளை கடந்து ஒரே ஸ்டைலில் க்ரூப் சேலை கட்டி வந்து கவனம் ஈர்த்திருந்தனர்.
தமிழகத்துக்கான இடைக்கால பட்ஜெட் நேற்று சட்டமன்றத்தில் தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்ட நிலையில், இன்று மாநகராட்சிக்கான பட்ஜெட்டை மேயர் பிரியா தாக்கல் செய்து வருகிறார். இன்று காலை 11 மணிக்கு தொடங்கிய பட்ஜெட் கூட்டத்துக்கு திமுக, பாஜக, காங்கிரஸ், விசிக-வை சேர்ந்த பெண் கவுன்சிலர்கள் 16 பேர் ஒரே கலரில் க்ரூப் சேலை கட்டி வந்து மகிழ்ச்சியாக போஸ் கொடுத்து கொண்டிருந்தனர். இதில் பாஜக-வின் கவுன்சிலர் உமா ஆனந்தும் உண்டு.
கூட்டணியில் கிலி கிளப்பிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் காங்கிரஸின் கவுன்சிலர் சுகன்யா செல்வமும் உண்டு. இதைப்பற்றி அந்த கவுன்சிலர்களிடம் கேட்கையில், ‘பட்ஜெட் தாக்கல் செய்யப்படும் நாள் ஒரு சிறப்பான நாள். இந்த ஸ்பெசலான நாளுக்காக எங்களின் ஒருமைப்பாட்டை காண்பிக்க இப்படி ஒரே மாதிரியாக சேலை கட்டி வந்திருக்கிறோம். வெவ்வேறு கட்சியாக இருந்தாலும் மக்கள் நலனுக்காக இணைந்தே செயல்படுவோம்’ என்றனர் ஒருமித்த குரலில். ‘எலெக்சன் நேரத்துல இது என்னய்யா புது உருட்டா இருக்கு’ என சில ஆண் கவுன்சிலர்கள் தங்களுக்குள்ளாகவே இவர்களை கலாய்த்துக் கொண்டனர்.
