As the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approach, political parties are actively engaged in election activities. In this context, the issue of power-sharing and authority is causing unrest within the DMK-Congress alliance. Amidst this, a meeting of Congress district leaders was held in Chennai, chaired by All India Congress General Secretary Venugopal. At the meeting, Venugopal stated that "opinions that cause confusion within the alliance should be avoided. If anyone speaks against the party's directives, the Congress leadership will take action," and such resolutions were adopted.

திமுக-வுடன் சேர்ந்து வகுப்புவாத சக்திகளை எதிர்ப்போம்.
எங்களுக்கும் லட்சியங்கள் உள்ளன. கூட்டணி ஆட்சி குறித்து தெளிவான தீர்க்கமான பேச்சுவார்த்தை தேவை.

திமுக கூட்டணியில்தான் காங்கிரஸ் உள்ளது” என்று தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார்.
தொடர்ந்து தவெக உடன் கூட்டணியா? என்ற கேள்விக்கு பதில் அளித்த அவர், “உங்கள் யூகங்களுக்கு பதில் அளிக்க முடியாது” என்று கூறியிருக்கிறார்.
