Chennai: The DMK alliance parties have announced that on November 11, protests will be held in all district headquarters against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list being conducted in Tamil Nadu. In a joint statement issued by the secular progressive alliance party leaders led by the DMK, it was stated, "The majority of political parties in the country have opposed the SIR from the beginning. Despite this, and although all parties including the DMK have expressed their opposition, the Election Commission, acting as an agent of the central government with authoritarian tendencies, has implemented the Special Intensive Revision (S.I.R.) of the voter list just a few months before the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections."
